These videos were taken by Craig at a recent rolling clinic at Alice Lake. The reviews from the clinic were all positive and everyone made great progress. I am running another clinic this Thursday evening and another one on Monday evening. If you’d like to register you can do so online on this page here or call me at 604 345 9617, space is limited so reserve your spot!

Thanks Tyson,
Caro and I were very happy with our progress yesterday, you gave us exactly the fine tuning we needed. I think everybody learned a lot. I saw a lot of smiling faces on the lake.

I am also another one of those  ;) smiling faces. Now I hope that I can make it stick. I plan on the next rolling session for more of this great fine tuning. This is the best day ever.

Had a great night on the Mamquam river with the Squamish paddling club and some of the MEC staff last night. The river is at a great level to practice eddy turns and to play on some small waves.

Another beautiful day in Squamish!

This is a view of Shanon falls from the water.

Rolling clinics are going great and due to interest we have added another one on August 22, 7:00pm at Alice lake.

Squamish estuary at high tide.

We decided to head into the estuary at high tide and check out an area we hadn’t paddled through before and this is what it looked like.

Sunday was an amazing day in Squamish, the sky was blue and the sun was out so I decided to go on a small adventure. I drove up to where we take out for the beginner white water course on the Mamquam river and decided to put in here with my sea kayak and paddle out in to Howe Sound. I put on at 2:00 and headed down stream at a quick pace and at the first corner was the first obstacle there was a log across the main current on river right so I headed to a small channel on the left side and squeezed through a small gap that then opened up into a small pool that re joined the main current. After that there were a few wave trains to run through and some amazing scenery to look at. The next obstacle came up when I was practicing my eddy turns, I pulled into an eddy and then looked below to see what looked like the whole river flowing under a log and disappearing under and around a small island. I let my self slide backwards in the eddy to get a better look at the situation and n0ticed that on the left side there was a small gap about eight feet wide. In my white water boat that would be tones of space but in my sea kayak I took a second look, after that I decided there was enough space and went for it. I slid through the gap and into the eddy on the other side, thinking I was through and done I suddenly realized how long my boat really is when it clips the tree that I thought I was long passed, a couple of strong strokes pulled me through the rest of the way. After that the river winds its way down under the hi-way and then I notice my next challenge, not hitting the dozens of fishermen and women standing in the middle of the river. As I used them as slalom gates most were very present and we chatted for a couple of seconds on my way buy. I made it out to the Squamish river and to my surprise there was even more fishermen  lining the banks and wading out into the river. The fishermen in this section were definitely having more luck than the ones on the Mamquam, in 5 minutes I saw at least 10 fish get caught. AS I headed down the fishermen became less and less and the river then opened up into How Sound where the kite boarders were having a great time in the wind. I continued around the spit and surfed home on the waves into Catamole Creek.
